Runic Games, the award-winning studio behind Torchlight and Torchlight II, welcomes you to Hob.Early in the game the player will suffer an attack which results in their arm being replaced by one which is metal. This arm can be used as a grappling hook with magnetic fields, can transform into a shield, and can be used to pull and push the building blocks of the world.“World-shifting is a core feature of Hob,” said Wonder Russell, Runic’s Minister of Culture. “As you re-align the world into its intended use, entire new play areas, previously unreachable, are fixed and unlocked.“You can think of the world as a Rubik’s cube collapsed on itself. Working out the puzzles allows you to access new areas that either lie dormant or are perhaps overrun with rogue life. This shifting will also affect the areas you’ve already explored, and things will probably be different when you go back to look.” At its heart, Hob is a mystery of who you really are. Not only are you alone and possibly the only one of your kind, but also you’re the only character who can affect the shape and purpose of the world.”One of the interesting bits about Hob, is the story will “reveal itself” as the game progresses through exploration. Players will be dropped into the game “without any text, backstory, or dialog,” and in order to reveal the story, players must “unravel the secret.” And, through exploration, the player will not only fix the world but learn their true identity.
