The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red is spinning off Gwent, the in-game card battler, into its own game, the studio announced today during Microsoft’s E3 2016 press briefing. The news confirms a previous rumor based on a trademark filing.Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is a deck-building experience in which players collect cards based on factions from the Witcher universe, and then compete for supremacy in head-to-head battles. Gwent is a mostly optional pursuit in The Witcher 3, but it was a popular side activity for players of the open-world role-playing game. The stand-alone Gwent will support cross-platform play across PC and consoles, and in addition to the one-on-one multiplayer action, the game will offer a full single-player campaign. Gwent will feature new mechanics and redesigned visuals compared to its appearance in The Witcher 3.
